Cross Fire is a defensive play on Axis Football League in which the goal is for both defensive ends to get through the opponent's offensive line and try to either sack the quarterback or stop the running back from gaining yards. The defensive alignment used for this play is categorized as 3-4 , in which three linesmen and four linebackers are on the field, making it difficult for the other team to run the ball. This play is extremely useful for stopping the run against teams with poor blocking ability such as the San Francisco GoldRushers, Oakland Pillagers, Carolina Prowlers , and Chicago Grizzlies . Cross Fire should also be used when the opponent is in I-formation or single-back formation .
